Safe Travel Skills
Orientation and Mobility (O&M) training can enable people who are visually impaired or blind to travel safely, efficiently, and independently in any environment. Safe travel is usually done with the aid of a white cane or mobility device. Our O&M specialist is university trained to help with any mobility need whether it is going to the mailbox independently or taking a bus across town. O&M training begins with an assessment of a persons needs, wants and abilities. Once this is completed, the O&M Specialist and traveler will establish feasible O&M goals and a training schedule.
